Rs. 55,000 to Rs. 60,000 is spent for each police staff.
Facts gathered regarding deployment of police personnel provided by the police department to different categories of leaders, bureaucrats, current and former ministers and other important personalities, bring out stunning facts about the extent and cost of security provided at the cost of the state.
More than hundred personnel are deployed for the Z category security of three ex-chief ministers, two ex-home ministers and Mata Amritanandamai.
Z category security is given for former chief ministers AK Antony, Oommen Chandy, VS Achutanandan and former home ministers Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and Ramesh Chennithala. Ramesh Chennithala is also provided with additional security, including escort, in the capacity of Opposition leader. Only the chief minister is provided Z plus category security in the state.
Amritanandamai is provided with 10 police personnel in addition to the security of 40 CRPF members provided by the Central Government.
The government had recently withdrawn police security that had been provided to a few religious and community leaders of mid-Travancore and Malabar.
KM Mani and Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan are provided with a security of five policemen each.
