Nitaqat deadline ends today

Jeddah/ Thiruvananthapuram: Thousands of illegal foreigners are rushing to leave Saudi Arabia before an amnesty expires on Sunday as they risk being fined or even jailed.

The Saudi Labour Ministry warned illegal workers and employers stating the countrywide raids to find illegal migrants would start on Monday.

Gulf Madhyamam ties up with Saudi newspaper

Dubai: Gulf Madhyamam, a Malayalam daily published from seven countries, has tied up with Saudi Arabia's English newspaper Saudi Gazette to launch its Gazette combo offer in Jeddah and Riyadh.

Announcing the decision, Gulf Madhyamam editor-in-chief V K Hamza Abbas, on Monday in Jeddah, said that "it is an honor for Gulf Madhyamam, the No. 1 Malayalam daily newspaper in the Middle East, to tie up with the leading Saudi English daily, Saudi Gazette."

India in touch with Saudi government over 'Nitaqat' law: Khurshid

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said Monday that India is in touch with the Saudi Arabian government over the kingdom's new work policy and would explore all avenues to find a solution during the three months of grace period announced by Riyadh.

"We are in touch with the Saudi government and will explore all possibilities in the three months of grace period announced, for which we are very grateful," said Khurshid on the sidelines of an event here.
