Three persons arrested over assault on Swami Sandeepananda Giri

Tirur: A day after Swami Sandeepananda Giri was assaulted allegedly by RSS workers while delivering a lecture here, the police have arrested three persons in connection with the case.

The police arrested Unnikrishnan of Mangalam Kavunchery, Kundanippadikkal Vasu and Kandakayil Veetil Rajesh, three of them workers of RSS, in connection with the case on Wednesday.

Sandeepananda Giri was assaulted by a group of miscreants on Tuesday afternoon around 6 pm while delivering a lecture at a programme conducted by the School of Bhagawat Gita here.

The attackers claimed that Swami had made some inflammatory comments against Mata Amritanandamayi in his speech a day earlier.

The injured Swami was later admitted in a private hospital at Kottakal near here.
